Show Me Your Friends, And I’ll Show You Your Future
I think one of the most important things you can do in life is develop a good circle of people around you.
Without my circle, who the fuck knows where I’d be or what I’d be doing.
But I definitely wouldn’t be where I’m at today.
Having a good circle means you’re all working toward similar goals and have similar work ethic.
Whenever you feel like shit and you see your buddy grinding, it’s motivating. It makes you want to get off your ass and get after it.
I know it can be tough when you grow up with friends or people who aren’t like that.
But when you hang out with people who:
Have zero work ethic
Always make excuses
Let Resistance control them
It only leads to one outcome.
You having zero work ethic, making excuses, and giving in to Resistance.
I recommend reading the book War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Joe Rogan swears by it. And that book taught me about Resistance.
Pressfield defines Resistance as the thing that stands between the life we live and the unlived life within us. He says it’s the most toxic force on the planet. On the same level as poverty, disease, and erectile dysfunction.
Resistance is also everywhere. It creeps into all aspects of life.
And Resistance turns you into a bitch. It’s preventing you from becoming the best version of yourself.
So when you have the wrong group of friends, it makes Resistance multiply.
And here’s a hard truth. If your friends aren’t willing to grow with you, and they’re good with staying the same - that’s on them.
But if you want to level up, you probably shouldn’t try to associate with them as much. Because they’ll suck you in.
Their poor habits and mindset will poison you.
Also watch out for friends that only gossip. If they only talk shit about people when you guys hang out, that’s toxic behavior. Avoid it at all costs.
Doing this improved my life big time.
So if you don’t feel like you have the right group of people around you, here’s how you can start.
Figure out how to hang out with experts. People who are in your field or an expert at something you want to get good at.
Watch how they act. What types of things they do. What habits they have.
If you spend enough time around those guys, their discipline and habits will influence you. Now, you and your circle will level up together.
Sean Strickland Stepping In
Thank god fights are back.
Kelvin Gastelum looked like he fucked up his mouth. So that means Sean Strickland is stepping in on short notice against Imamov at 205.
Sean is always sparring and in good shape. I think he’s ready to go 5 rounds on any day.
Other than that, Dan Ige is back. Strong boxer with good grappling, brings heavy hooks.
I’m just excited for fights to be back. Gives me something to get pumped about on Saturday.
Thorne Supplements
UFC is back this Saturday, folks. And Thorne is the supplement brand trusted by UFC fighters.
It’s third-party tested for the best quality ingredients so you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
I personally use magnesium before sleep, fish oils, amino-acids when I’m training hard, and their VeganPro complex protein.
I did a little recipe video on my YouTube for a good healthy stoner snack using the chocolate flavored protein. Delicious.
If you’re in the market for some good supplements, Thorne is the brand I trust. You can feel safe and good about what you’re putting into your body with Thorne.
Use the link below and Throne will hook you up with a 15% discount on your order.

Is Jake Paul The New Face Of The PFL?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is some interesting news.
Jake Paul signed a multi-year deal with PFL. He says he’ll be competing in boxing and MMA under the PFL banner.
Jake made a video announcing this deal and it’s a pretty good video. But I want to touch on some points he makes.
Jake says he wants to disrupt MMA like he disrupted boxing.
Everyone whose been in fighting as long as I have knows that you can develop pretty far in boxing in just 2 years.
But when it comes to MMA, there’s a lot more aspects to the game. Wrestling, jiu-jitsu, working off the fence, elbows in close, Muay Thai. These things take years to be develop.
I know he’s done some high school wrestling. And he can crack. With 4 oz gloves, he can shut someone’s lights out.
Honestly, this is the best fucking thing that’s ever happened to PFL. Jake can help them blow up real quick.
Superfight leagues
I think this could set up some sweet fucking fights. These guys will already be stars and they’ll get a huge cut of the PPV. Fans will be pumped.
Jake wants to fight Nate Diaz in boxing and MMA.
I really hope this happens.
Nate’s smart. He’s probably looking at Jake as this young athletic kid. He probably saw what Anderson tried to do to Jake without success.
And I know he posted some cryptic tweet about Rizin. There’s some big money fights over in Japan too. But I think Nate has the chance to be fucking huge.
Even bigger than he already is.
He already took out Conor. Imagine if he goes to PFL, pieces up Jake in boxing, then submits him in MMA.
That would be fucking epic.
But I’m pumped for this. Curious to see how it turns out. Really good move by PFL.
What I’m Reading This Week:
Ungifted: Intelligence Redefined by Scott Barry Kaufman
When I lived with my coach Robert Follis, he got me into psychology and human nature.
Ever since then, I’ve always been obsessed with what psychologists have to say about mindset, creativity, and talent.
In this book, Kaufman shows that society has a misguided way of defining intelligence. He talks about how there’s multiple paths to greatness. And it all depends on someone’s goals, psychology, and development.
Interesting read, will report on some highlights in the future as I go through the book.
Quick Hits From This Week
A little gem from James Clear’s 3-2-1 newsletter this week:
Ray Bradbury on the power of cumulative action:
“Action is hope. At the end of each day, when you’ve done your work, you lie there and think, Well, I’ll be damned, I did this today. It doesn’t matter how good it is, or how bad—you did it. At the end of the week you’ll have a certain amount of accumulation. At the end of a year, you look back and say, I’ll be damned, it’s been a good year.”
It’s what I keep saying. Show up and do the work and be consistent.
You might not see the rewards of your actions immediately, but it’ll compound into some good shit.
Red Hawk Recap Ep. 71
In this episode, I was joined by my buddy Bryce Meredith, MMA fighter in LFA, and Airbnb business owner.
It’s so fucking important to find something that makes you present while doing it.
I think everyone needs to find the thing that makes them present. It’s sad, but most people don’t have something like this. For me, any of the martial arts puts me in that present state. Sometimes, the marijuana too. If you’re present, you can really appreciate all the little things. For Bryce, he likes being in the wilderness. Snowboarding, snowmobiling, and anything outdoors.
If you’re feeling like shit, imagine a different perspective.
Think about this. If you were born in 1900, you were 14 when World War 1 started. 22 million people died during those 4 years. Then the Spanish flu epidemic starts. By the time you’re 20, another 50 million people have died. Then you have to deal with the Great Depression when you’re 29. Those people went through some shit. So if you have nothing to be thankful for, be thankful you were born in this day and age. You have the internet and there’s opportunity everywhere.
Is college a scam?
If you’re a young buck and you have no idea what you want to do, I say fuck college. They’re trying to fuck you. They make it easy for you to take out hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans to take bullshit classes. Consider this too. That same 18 year old who tries to go to a bank for a $10,000 loan for their business idea would get laughed out the door.
Bryce thinks college is the biggest scam in the world. It’s silly to think that 18 year olds who don’t know how to make good decisions can go to war or take out massive loans. But Bryce has exceptions to this. If you’re an athlete, try to go to university so you can compete at the highest level. If you’re going for any STEM majors, the best education is in colleges.
Jiu-jitsu or wrestling for a street fight?
Surprisingly, there are a lot of jiu-jitsu schools that don’t train takedowns or takedown defense. I know black belts that don’t know how to take people down. So if you’re in a street fight, someone can just crack you and if you pull guard, probably won’t work. With wrestling, you can pick somebody up and slam em’ on the ground and control it from there. So I think wrestling has an edge over jiu-jitsu when it comes to real combat.
TimboSugarShow Ep. 220
Jake Paul to the PFL.
I think Jake Paul is gonna make it fucking exciting and interesting for PFL. 50% of the PPV for Super Fights is huge and will bring a lot of eyeballs.
Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz
Sug thinks it might tarnish Nate’s legacy if Jake knocks him out. But Nate is Nate. He’s a dog. In MMA, Nate will probably choke Jake out. But there’s too many different things to get good at for MMA. You can get pretty far in boxing in just a couple years.
ONE Championship atomweight fighter Victoria Lee dies at 18 years old.
RIP. That’s way too fucking young. A lot of sad stuff is happening in MMA lately. So sad for her family.
When is Aljo gonna sign?
Henry is ready to go. We’re all waiting on Aljo, what’s going on here? Their trash talk online is so cringe. Sean is waiting for the call. We’ll see what happens because something’s gotta happen soon.
