Your Time Is Coming
For years and years, I was broke. We’re talking about under $1000 in the bank account, living paycheck to paycheck broke.
But the whole time I was broke, I felt successful. It was weird to me then, but now I see it differently.
If you’re truly passionate about whatever you’re doing and you’re always looking for ways to improve, then you’re bound to find “success”.
Maybe you’ll meet somebody who will change everything for you. Or you’ll face one of those situations where an opportunity comes and you’re ready.
For me, even though I wasn’t doing very well financially - I still got to wake up and spend my day doing what I enjoy doing.
I didn’t have to wake up, sit in traffic, and go to some dumb job for 8 hours. I did what I loved every single day.
I think if you’re able to do what you want, regardless of the money, that makes you successful.
I’ve thought that my whole life even when I was broke. And I think everyone should strive for that to some degree.
Of course, you still have to find ways to support yourself. But I think you can turn your passion into some kind of expertise and turn that into money.
There was a lot of times I had zero dollars in the bank. But I knew my time would come soon.
Just imagine the opposite scenario. You’re trading all your time for a set amount of money and benefits.
But what if you don’t have time to enjoy that money and you don’t use those benefits?
Your time on this Earth is valuable. You can’t buy more time. So I think everyone should think of ways to do what they enjoy. Even if that means living under your means for a while.
Now if you have kids, that’s a different story. You made a choice to become a parent and now it’s your job to take care of and raise those kids. So that might require you to trade your time for money for the time being.
But once everything’s stable and you’re not struggling, you can revisit the idea of spending most of your day doing what you love.
Removing The Negative Programming
I grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness. Church 3 times a week, going out knocking door-to-door on Saturdays to spread the “good word”.
The whole time I was made to believe that I knew the “truth”. I was one of the lucky ones who was guaranteed a spot in paradise when the whole world ended.
The brainwashing didn’t stop there. I was told that if I went against the religion or left the religion, it’s the worst thing in the world.
So I grew up with a lot of guilt that was built into me by elders and people I was around. And these were people who cared about me.
When I left, all of a sudden it was, “Oh, Satan’s got him.”
Even after leaving, I still carried around that guilt. All that negative programming was making me question if I made the right choice or not.
That’s why I’ll be forever grateful to Robert Follis. Before he passed, he taught me to question everything.
Don’t take anyone’s word as absolute. Do your own research. Any question you have, you can find information online.
After researching for myself, I found out that the “truths” of my religion are tactics commonly used by thousands of religions. Brainwashing tactics to fill you with guilt and to prevent you from leaving.
Once I got rid of that guilt, I finally felt free inside.
But negative programming doesn’t only come through religion. It could be passed on to you by your parents.
Maybe your parents were negative people. Always shitting on other people’s success or complaining about deserving more.
That stuff will pass on to you. And if you think those things subconsciously, it’s going to lead you down the same negative path.
It’s important to figure out what kind of negative programming you can change. It’s easier said than done, but it’s possible.
Thorne
Maybe you got some negative programming that supplements are bullshit. That’s not entirely false, there are some garbage supps out there.
But Thorne is not one of them.
A lot of UFC fighters use Thorne as part of their daily supplement routine.
Thorne is third-party tested for the best quality ingredients so you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
I personally use magnesium before sleep, fish oils, amino-acids when I’m training hard, and their VeganPro complex protein.
If you’re in the market for some good supplements, Thorne is the brand I trust. You can feel safe and good about what you’re putting into your body with Thorne.

Owning My Own Coffee Shop
I’ve been thinking of and talking about owning my own coffee shop since I was 23.
When we were younger (around 19-20 years old), Sean and I used to go to coffee shops a lot to just chill, read, and have good coffee.
I love good coffee. It’s such a good drug. It gets you pumped up and motivated for the day.
And I just love what coffee shops do for people. It’s a clean and quiet space for you to go read, learn, go on a date, whatever.
But at the time, I was fighting and spending all my winnings. So I was in no position to do anything toward that goal.
Still, I always had in mind, that one day I’m gonna own my own shop.
From then on, every new coffee shop I went into, I started noticing things I liked about it. Menu, layout, the vibe, etc.
It was like I was filing all these details away in a mental folder for the future.
I did the same thing for the gym. I knew I was gonna open a gym one day. So every new gym I’d train at, I’d look at their schedule, and take note of the layout and rooms.
When the time came and I was ready, I had a good idea of what I wanted.
Going back to the first section of this newsletter, I knew I couldn’t go wrong by keeping up with good routines and improving. Constantly learning about things for these goals.
I know it’s easier said than done. Because you don’t know when that “time” is. And maybe you have pressures from people in your ear or from other responsibilities.
But just stay focused, stay present, and keep at it.
Of course, there’s a little luck involved. But if you’re prepared for it, it’s not really random luck.
Just know, the time will come.
Quick Hits From This Week
Red Hawk Recap Ep. 106
On this episode of the pod, my buddy Marcus McGhee returns to the pod after racking 2 UFC wins and 2 bonuses.
How Can Strickland Win?
It’s the aftermath now. We saw what happened. But last week, we couldn’t see a path for Strickland to win!
Marcus Stays Composed In His Fights
I’ve seen a lot of newcomers let the moment get to them. But not Marcus. He stays calm and composed like a vet, he attributes this to being present and not worrying about the stakes.
Chito vs. Suga 2
Is this the fight that makes sense? It’s the fight that everyone wants to see. Didn’t really see a lot of action from Chito in his last fight though.
Making Money On Snapchat
I’ve spoken to a bunch of influencers and they’re making some serious bread on Snapchat. It’s crazy. I’m getting rowdy on there now too, shoot me an add - Timwelchmt
TimboSugarShow Ep. 252
Sean Strickland Did It!
I was wrong, I’ll admit it. Holy shit though. It’s crazy that Sean spars all the damn time. For him to just march down Izzy like that, such a good performance.
Suga On Meditation
Sug’s goal is to meditate more. It’s powerful shit. We might figure out set times during the day to just sit in silence.
Find Beauty And Joy In Your Daily Rituals And You Will Find Beauty And Joy In Your Daily Life
This is powerful stuff. It’s easy for a lot of us to go on autopilot with set routines. But if you can be present and find a way to enjoy those things, it’ll translate to other aspects of life.
New Gym Update
The gym is getting put together. I’m learning along the way. It’s kinda stressful, but we’re figuring it out.
