5 Signs Of Happiness
Social media only shows you the highlights.
Everyone’s gonna look successful and happy in their posts. You don’t really see what’s happening behind closed doors.
I know a lot of couples who post things that make it seem like everything is perfect. They look like they’re madly in love and will probably be together forever.
But I’m also friends with these guys. So they tell me what’s really going on. And someone I know is about to get a divorce.
So it’s tough to see if someone is genuinely happy on social media. But you can usually tell with someone’s vibe and energy.
Here are 5 signs that I’ve noticed with happy people.
1. Put Things Into Perspective
Something I’ve noticed about happy people is that they always put things into perspective.
Things can be way worse. No matter who you are, you’re gonna have some bad things happen to you. That’s life.
But the key is to not sit and wallow in negativity. You gotta put it in perspective right away.
My brother is really good at this. He was guiding an elk hunting trip with some clients. One of the guys fell down and my brother tried to catch him and ended up tearing his bicep in the process.
This is the same bicep my brother tore in the past and had major surgery on.
Fortunately, he had a successful surgery last night. I called him up and he’s not bitching or complaining. He’s got a great perspective.
He told me, “Dude, things could be way worse. Let’s just get healed up.”
2. Healthy Relationships
Another thing is having healthy relationships. Happy people have good relationships with their partner, their kids, and the people around them.
They’re not talking shit about people, gossiping, or burning bridges.
3. Have A Passion
The third sign of a happy person is passion. Usually, they have something they’re focused on and it consumes their mind.
They want to continuously get better at their passion and they want to share it with others.
You could try to buy happiness with money. Rent yachts, pack it full of hot chicks, get drugs, buy expensive bottles, etc.
You’re just blasting yourself with dopamine high after dopamine high. I don’t think that can last and is a recipe for depression.
Look at Dan Bilzerian. Every day in that guy’s life looks like he’s experiencing the highest of highs. But in interviews, he’s admittedly said he’s miserable. A lot of stuff like sex and eating at 5-star restaurants are numb to him.
4. Enjoy What You Got
I can’t explain how powerful this is.
Remember, there are literally millions of people who wish they could be in your shoes. Your everyday life is their dream.
If you have all your limbs and senses, you’re lucky. If you can work out and improve your health, you’re lucky.
Of course, having a little bit of money provides security. For me, the best personal freedom for that is just being able to buy whatever food I want.
I don’t need to look at prices, clip coupons, or think about it. I just get whatever I want at the highest quality. It wasn’t too long ago when I could barely buy gas station snacks.
5. Time For Yourself
A lot of people get anxious when they have nothing to do. So they try to fill up their time with random things to preoccupy their mind.
That time to yourself is valuable. Create a routine that makes you feel good.
That’s why my morning routine is so important. It makes me feel good and think sharp. I’ve got a video on my morning routine on YouTube.
One Coach Vs. Big Gym
The relationship between Sug and I came organically. I watched him fight and then we became friends.
I started helping him here and there, and it was just fun for me. Eventually, it turned into the dynamic we have today. And it’s been a huge part of why we’ve gotten so far.
Every fighter is different. So if you’re in a room with 50 guys with different backgrounds and you’re all doing the same thing, eventually you’ll get diminishing returns from it.
I think it’s good in the beginning though. There’s good energy in the room and you can get different looks from different guys. You’re sparring with guys with different strengths.
It’s possible to get really good from this. But when you get to the championship/contender level, I think you need to have practices catered and focused on you.
If there’s big money and big stakes on the line, you gotta focus on what you need to work on. Especially when you have a ton of experience and all your skills are high level.
If you’re just coming into the gym and doing what everyone else is doing, it probably won’t help you much at that level.
Strength and conditioning also. I’m a big bulky kid and Sean is a skinnier kid. We’re different athletes with different attributes. It doesn’t make sense for us to have the same exact strength and conditioning program.
But it’s also not easy to find a coach to focus on you. Like I said, Sean and I’s relationship happened organically.
Coaches need to take care of themselves too. They don’t have the time to give their life to you, especially if you guys aren’t good friends.
So it’s difficult for them to just focus on you and not get paid.
I know coaches who have helped fighters for years, and then the fighter just dips. Well shit, all that time and knowledge I invested in you was for nothing.
But hopefully, when you’re at the peak of your career, you have some money to pay these guys. So now they can afford to build you up and focus on you.
Curious what you guys think about this. Let me know in the comments.
Thorne
Do you want to take the same supplements as UFC fighters?
Thorne is third-party tested for the best quality ingredients so you know exactly what you’re putting into your body.
I personally use magnesium before sleep, fish oils, amino acids when I’m training hard, and their VeganPro complex protein.
If you’re in the market for some good supplements, Thorne is the brand I trust. You can feel safe and good about what you’re putting into your body with Thorne.
Use the link below and Throne will hook you up with a 15% discount on your order.
Making Progress In Life
Every time I’ve stepped into the cage to fight or cornered someone for their fight, I felt like I was accomplishing something in life.
This is where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to be doing. I’m in my zone and I’m having fun.
Fortunately, I’ve felt like that my whole career, win or lose. Every trip I went on, even if I wasn’t fighting, I was still getting experience.
Afterward, it’s always back to the gym and continuing to get better.
Every event in my career has felt like progress because this is my passion. This is what I love to do.
After some time, things started getting bigger, and I started making a little bit of money. And now things are going really well.
So whatever you’re pursuing right now, I hope you learn to feel the same way along your journey.
Quick Hits From This Week
Red Hawk Recap Ep. 114
In this episode of the pod, I sit down with Shawn from Art of Recovery.
No Great Man Succeeded With Porn Still In His Life
I talked with SteveWillDoIt about this, and he disagrees. You bust one out and you feel sane again. Obviously, if you’re a fat lazy loser and you’re busting multiple times a day, that’s terrible. But if you’re a horned up, healthy dude, I think busting one out isn’t that bad. Shawn says if you don’t have a chick and you’re just busting, that’s probably not healthy.
Bringing Your Ideas To Life
Shawn put his ideas on paper and made them come to life. It is pretty fucking sweet. I think the key is passion. Because I was so crazy passionate about MMA, this is perfect for me.
Conversations W/ Defensive Friends
That’s really fucking hard to do. Shawn says it makes it hard to be honest because they might blow up. I agree, you just have to accept that and just be real.
Meeting Certain People Changes Your Life
This is super important. And it’s crazy because if you made a different decision on the same day, maybe you may have never met certain people.
Developing Into Manhood
I think a requirement is going through some tough shit. Do some really uncomfortable and push through it. If I have a son, it’s gonna be required to train. I think he’ll like it because he’ll see how fun I’m having.
Is Dan Bilzerian Happy?
I wonder if this dude is truly happy. Shawn says he’s numb to so many things like 5 star restaurants and sex. Apparently, cold plunging and sauna make him happy. I just don’t know how fun that lifestyle would be for a long time.
TimboSugarShow Ep. 253
Alex Pereira KO'S Jiri Prochazka UFC 295
Crazy what Pereira has been able to do. The guy is only 9-2. I loved Jiri’s samurai walkout. I think when there are 2 humble martial artists, there’s not as much buzz. You don’t want to see any of them lose.
David Goggins Training Tony Ferguson
Sug doesn’t think that Goggins is gonna help Tony in his fight. I think it might, maybe he needs someone like Goggins to strengthen his mind. Getting trained by Goggins for a week sounds terrifying.
Dana White Not Interested in Co-Promoting Jones vs Francis
How would you even negotiate this? It’s the biggest heavyweight fight to make right now. But the UFC is so much bigger than the PFL.
